When designing components for harsh chemical environments, material selection becomes critical to product longevity and safety. What Are Chemical Resistant Plastics?
Chemical resistance refers to a material's ability to maintain its original properties when exposed to chemical reagents for a specific period. This isn't just about avoiding visible damage—true chemical resistance means preserving mechanical strength, dimensional stability, and functionality despite continuous chemical exposure. Several factors influence chemical resistance, including temperature, chemical concentration, exposure duration, and mechanical stress on the component.

Mechanical demands matter too. PPS offers superior strength and stiffness, making it suitable for structural components, while PTFE's flexibility suits non-load-bearing applications. Don't forget fabrication requirements—PPS can be injection molded like conventional plastics, while PTFE requires compression molding or machining.
